In one of the wildest NFL rumors to date, Dallas Cowboy-centric website The Landry Hat is proposing a bombshell coaching change that would turn professional football in the South on it's ear is currently in the works.  If you thought the rivalry between the Cowboys and the Saints was intense before, just think of how crazy it would be if New Orleans Head Coach Sean Payton replaced Jason Garrett as the Head Coach for Dallas!

It sounds crazy, but the more you look into it - the more feasible it becomes.  Payton is a long-time Cowboy fan, and has even worked for America's team.  From 2003-2006 he was assistant head coach, quarterbacks’ coach and eventually became the passing game coordinator under head coach Bill Parcells.  Many believe that if Parcells would have retired in 2006 instead of 2007 - Payton would likely have gotten the promotion then.  With Jason Garrett's contract coming to a close in 2020, Cowboy's owner Jerry Jones could extend his contract - or he could hire someone else.

When the question of possible staffing changes within the organization was posed to Jones last week on 105.3 The Fan, he said that they may "see an opportunity next week."  That's important because it's against NFL rules to talk to coaches about potential jobs while they are playing = ie the playoffs.  Now that the Saints are out of the running, those talks could potentially happen.

But it's not like Jerry Jones has ever made a wild coaching decision.  It's probably nothing.
