New Orleans is the home of Jazz, but Wednesday night the tune was not to the Crescent City's liking.

The hometown Hornets lost to the Utah Jazz by the score of 96-84.

A couple of scoring droughts did the Hornets in, including one that lasted over 8 minutes in the first half. The third quarter also killed the fleur-de-bees, something that wasn't lost on New Orleans' starting point guard.

"We lost the game in the third quarter. We didn't execute and they outscored us 31-17," explained Greivis Vasquez. "We cannot afford to lose like we did. We are much better than what we showed tonight."

Vasquez finished with 18 points and 8 assists. Center Robin Lopez finished with 18 as well, going 7-9 from the field. Brian Roberts scored 11 to lead the bench.

However, the one Hornet who has been a constant this season had his first off night of the year. Ryan Anderson scored a season-low 7 points on 2-8 shooting.

Despite the dry spell, the Hornets still got the deficit to 7 on two occasions in the 4th quarter. In the end, the droughts and turnovers were too much to overcome. New Orleans turned it over 19 times, leading to 18 Utah points.

"We looked like a young team. Some of our young guys were making mistakes where they knew it when they made it and when the coaches talked to them. That is part of this process," Hornets coach Monty Williams explained. "Our guys never quit. No matter who we put in the game, those five tried their best to help the team. Some nights you don't have it."

New Orleans will now focus on the Oklahoma City Thunder who visit the Hive on Saturday night. Tip-off is set for 7:00.
