Jeanerette Man Arrested After Armed Robbery, Foot Chase

A Jeanerette man was arrested after allegedly robbing his victim at knifepoint and the leading police on a foot chase.

According to Iberia Parish Sheriff Louis Ackal, deputies attempted to pull over Devone John Lewis shortly after the incident, but he took off on foot after coming to a stop.

Police were able to take Lewis into custody nearby with the help of a K9 tracking dog, Ackal said.

Lews is facing a host of charges, including armed robbery, two counts of resisting police, resisting by violence, theft, possession of illegal narcotics, and attempting to disarm an officer.

He was booked into the Iberia Parish Jail, Ackal said.
