An Jeanerette man was identified as the prime suspect in a shooting after investigators linked him to hospital records.

St. Mary Parish Spokewoman Traci Landry reported 34-year-old Kendall Hines of Jeanerette, was arrested for allegedly shooting a 30-year-old man Sunday in the Four Corners area.

Detectives determined Hines was involved in the shooting after they were notified a man was treated for gunshot wounds at Franklin Foundation Hospital. Having already determined Hines was a suspect in the crime, investigators tracked him down in the Abbeville.

Detectives say Hines was involved in an argument in Four Corners when he produced a handgun, fired several rounds and struck the victim. Evidence determined another subject returned fire hitting Hines.

The victim was transported to Lafayette General for treatment where he remains in stable condition

Landry said the investigation into the crime is ongoing. Anyone with information on the crime is encouraged to contact the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office at 337-828-1960 or 985-384-1622.
