A break in on Allison Street led to the arrest of 26-year-old Justin Harding of Jeanerette.  It happened at 2:30 this morning when police say someone broke into an apartment on the 100 block of Allison Street.

Two female occupants of the apartment said that a man kicked in their door and hit one of them repeatedly in the face, causing injuries that required advanced medical attention.

When Lafayette Parish Sheriff's deputies arrived, they say they spotted a vehicle leaving at a high rate of speed, driven by Harding.  He was stopped and denied any involvement in the break-in, but was wearing clothes that matched the description provided by the victims.  In addition, police noted a shoe impression on the door of the apartment that matched Harding's shoes.

Harding was booked on charges of aggravated burglary and second degree battery.

Deputies say that they are not sure if Harding knew the victims in the break in and are uncertain of any motive in the case.
