NEW IBERIA, La. (KPEL) -- A Jeanerette teenager was killed Saturday night as he was riding his bicycle along the shoulder of Highway 182.

State Police Trooper Stephen Hammons says 17-year-old Jaquil Provost was about four feet from the white fog line when a Kia Sorrento driven by 73-year-old Harold Racca crashed into him.

Provost was taken to Iberia General Hospital, Hammons says, but he was pronounced dead.

Racca did not sustain any injuries, Hammons says.

Provost's bike did not have any time of lighting equipment at the time, Hammons says.
