Jeanerette Woman Dies In Accident

A woman loses her life in an early morning accident. State Police say it happpened on Highway 90 at Highway 675 in Iberia Parish.

Troopers say Moneshia Eligwe of Jeanerette was sitting outside her car in the right lane of Highway 90 when for unknown reasons, Michael Johnson of West Monroe crashed into her and killed her instantly.

Authorities say Eligwe had been involved in another crash at the same spot earlier, and for some reason she got out of her car and sat down on the highway.

Routine toxicology samples have been taken for both people. State Police continue to investigate both accidents.
