Jeff Davis Pilot Killed in Cropduster Crash

The pilot of a crop duster was killed Friday night in the Jennings area when his plane hit a communications tower and crashed near Highway 1126 and Castex Landing Road. Officials with the Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff's Office have identified him as 52-year-old William Precht, Jr., of Iowa.

Precht's coworker began searching for him when he failed to respond to radio calls. He was found about an hour later in a field off of Highway 1126. No one on the ground was injured. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
