The Fire District 4 in Jefferson Davis Parish will be getting a new fire station in the Andrus Cove area after the plans for the facility were approved this week by the police jury.

The station is scheduled to be built on a two-acre site on the east side of Louisiana Highway 26 and just south of Highway 102.

The most recent Property Insurance Association of Louisiana inspection shows that Fire District 4 has a Class 4 fire rating.

Another rating inspection will happen in two years.

The district serves more than 1,700 people in the area outside of the unincorporated part of Lake Arthur, including Andrus Cove, Thornwell and Morgan Shores.
