JENNINGS, La. (AP) — A Jennings couple hopes to organize a Thanksgiving soup kitchen for hundreds of the elderly, needy and those who would otherwise be alone.
Greg and Trisha Patterson of Bethel Ministries are looking for donors and volunteers, including other area churches and youth groups, to help make their dream a reality.
If they can get together the cash — $720 an hour rent and a $600 deposit and clean-up fee — they want to use the William Broussard multipurpose building at the fairgrounds in Jennings.
The

increased rent for the building, arena and fairgrounds this year to help maintain the newly renovated facilities.
Police Jury President Donald Woods referred the couple's request for free use to the parish finance committee.
