The Jennings City Council has voted to give city employees a two percent pay increase.  The council has also voted for a five percent increase in water and sewer rates.

The Jennings City Council also voted this weekend to raise the amount that people pay for trash collection.  Rates will go up by 2.4 percent.

The pay raises will be across-the board for the 110 full time employees that work for the city.  Mayor Terry Duhon says the total cost for the city will be $85,000.

In addition to city workers, police officers and firefighters will see their pay rise as well.  The council approved a 2 percent raise for those employees on the date they were hired. The raise is mandated by the state of Louisiana.

City Council and the mayor will not be getting pay raises this year.
