JENNINGS, La. (KPEL) -- Two people have been arrested, and more than 500 pounds of marijuana have been seized following a routine traffic stop on Interstate 10 Friday night.

Jennings Police say officers became suspicious after questioning the driver and the passenger during the stop. After getting permission to search the truck, police say they found 18 bundles of marijuana under the truck's covered bed. The marijuana had an estimated street value of over $1 million.

31-year-old Trenell Clark of New Orleans and 24-year-old Gardnell Clark of Houston were arrested and booked into the Jennings City Jail.

Police say several children who were with them were handed over to state Office of Child Services.
