As hurricane season for 2012 starts Louisiana Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon visited 'Mornings With Ken & Bernie' to urge homeowners to buy flood insurance in addition to conventional homeowners insurance.

According to Donelon,

"After Hurricanes Katrina and Rita two days of 10 inch rainstorms back-to-back in Alexandria and in Monroe flooded hundreds of homes.  Making my point.  Everyone in your audience should have flood insurance.  It's the best insurance buy a homeowner can make."

Donelon urged everyone to know what is included in their homeowners policy and what their deductible is because deductibles have increased in recent years.

Commissioner Donelon cautioned people to be attentive to evacuation orders and heed them when issued.
