Jim Hightower On Induction Into Louisiana Sports Hall Of Fame [AUDIO]
Jim Hightower has four decades of winning under his belt, and the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame is honoring one of the greatest football coaches in the history of the state.
Hightower’s career spans four decades, and in his 40+ years he never coached a losing team. In 30 years at St. Thomas More, he built the Cougars program into a powerhouse, competing for district titles every year. This past season, he led his team all the way to the Superdome, and they came a few plays away from hoisting the trophy. He’s a massive figure in Louisiana football, and he’s a living legend.
The game has changed a lot in his time calling plays and running practice, but one thing remained the same, his passion.
“There’s no better place to be on a Friday night than on a sideline,” Hightower said.
He draws his energy from the young players in his program, and he’s not done coaching by any means. The Hall of Fame is inducting him in their 2016 class, but he’s not done adding to his win total.
I had the honor of welcoming Hightower onto my show, “The Cheap Seats” (weekdays, 6-7 pm), and he talked about his time coaching the game he loves and the pride he feels for his program and his induction into a prestigious group of individuals.
