Governor Bobby Jindal announces Lafayette-based Schumacher Group will undergo a major expansion to its headquarters over the next five years.The company manages emergency medical services for hospitals nationwide. Jindal says Schumacher plans to spend $19 million dollars that will produce 600 new direct jobs.

Jindal says the expansion will mean a total of nearly 1,400 new jobs for the Acadiana region. He says the state offered Schumacher a customized incentive package that includes a performance-based grant that will reimburse up to $9 million to the cost of expanding. Jindal says the company considered other states for its expansion, but decided on Louisiana.

Jindal says the new jobs will have an average salary of $62,500 plus benefits. Jindal says today's announcement is another great success story for Louisiana. He says construction is set to begin next year.
