Closing the $900 million deficit, that's Governor Jindal's goal as he proposed his budget contract for the coming fiscal year. Some of the highlights of the Governor's plan includes higher retirement costs for state employees, a cut of nearly 6,400 jobs and a few different collections of money throughout the state.

The new plan starts on July 1st and would bring the budget from $25.6 billion to $25.5 billion.
