LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) — "American Idol" finalist Joshua Ledet will sing the National Anthem before Saturday's kickoff between McNeese State and the University of Central Arkansas.

McNeese spokeswoman Candace Townsend said Ledet approached them about singing at a football game and Saturday's contest was chosen.

The Westlake native made it to the top three on this year's nationally televised talent competition. He was best known on the show for his renditions of "It's a Man's Man's Man's World" and "When a Man Loves a Woman."

Athletic Director Tommy McClelland says Ledet's performance provides a unique opportunity for local fans to hear a nationally acclaimed artist sing in their hometown.

The American Press reports tickets for the game remain available. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
