"My family comes before basketball," Jrue Holiday told Jeff Duncan of The-Times Picayune reports the . "I'm obviously blessed to play this game and be in the position I am in, but my wife is the most important thing in the world to me. She comes before anything else."

The pregnancy remains healthy, as Lauren won't have to undergo surgery until after giving birth. Her due date is mid-October, shortly before the season opener on October 26.

Lauren, a two-time gold medalist and World Cup champion married Jrue in 2013, days before he was traded from the Philadelphia 76ers to New Orleans.

The two met while starring in their respective sports at UCLA.

Doctors believe removing the benign tumor with brain surgery will result in an eventual full recovery.
