Jrue Holiday To Remain A Pelican
The NBA offseason has been way more interesting than the NBA playoffs and honestly NBA season combined. There has been so much that has happened since the Warriors won the NBA Finals. The Celtics traded the #1 pick, Chris Paul got traded to the Houston Rockets, Paul George got traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder which I think surprised a lot of people and Steph Curry reached a deal with the Warriors that made him the first player with a deal over 200 million dollars just to name a few.
The NBA free agency period started at midnight and the New Orleans Pelicans wanted to make some moves to try to catch up to the Warriors which every team is trying to do. They want to keep Anthony Davis and Demarcus Cousins happy as well as give them some help and they did so by agreeing to terms with Jrue Holiday to a 5 year deal worth 126 million dollars.
Holiday has been a staple on the Pelicans since 2013 but injuries in the 2014 and 2015 seasons stopped him from being a huge contributor like he could have been. He ended up missing 48 games in 2014 and 42 games in 2015, but this past season he only missed 3 games and averaged close to a double-double with 15.4 points per game and 7.3 assists per game.
Holiday is now among some of the highest paid athletes in NOLA as he is just behind Anthony Davis and ahead of Drew Brees and Cousins.
If Holiday can remain healthy he can be a good player and help the Pelicans make it back to the playoffs.
