It's been over a year since the BP oil spill repelled tourists from coastal areas, but this holiday weekend was a big one for Grand Isle.Mayor David Camardelle says crews worked around the clock to ensure the beaches would be clean and open for tourists and fisherman. Camardelle says it looked like old times on the island this past weekend as businesses were eager to welcome visitors. He says the fish are back and it was nice to see families back on the beach fishing and crabbing together. Grand Isle has been a favorite destination for many visitors in the past. Camardelle says by all accounts, Grand Isle is back.
