NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A jury has convicted two cousins in the shooting death of a toddler who was shot as he sat in a car with his grandmother near a parade.

The Times-Picayune reports that the Orleans Parish jury convicted 24-year-old Bernell "Benny" Pollard and 31-year-old Jamiron Pollard on Friday.

They face an automatic sentence of life in prison after being found guilty of second-degree murder in the shooting death of 2-year-old Jeremy Galmon.

The jury also returned guilty verdicts on two counts of attempted second-degree murder for each defendant.

Orleans Parish Judge Robin Pittman scheduled a sentencing hearing for Oct. 11.

The child was struck by a stray bullet and killed during a Central City parade in 2010.
