An Opelousas man is now facing up to 25 years in prison after a federal jury convicted him of assaulting and robbing a postal worker.

U.S. Attorney Stephanie Finley says Brandon Handy was found guilty of aggravated robbery of mail person.

Prosecutors had witness testimony and documents that showed Handy, along with another person, pulled out a gun to rob the postal service contract driver in August of 2011 at the Lawtell Post Office.

Police says say Handy grabbed the driver by the neck and wrestled him to his knees, while the other person took the bag of mail from the postal worker then fled the scene.

Sentencing for Handy is set for April of next year.
