Jury Deliberates For 2nd Day In Katrina Shooting

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A federal jury has resumed deliberating in the retrial of a former New Orleans police officer charged with fatally shooting a man without justification in Hurricane Katrina's aftermath.

Jurors returned Wednesday for a second day of deliberations. They deliberated for six hours Tuesday after hearing attorneys' closing arguments. U.S. District Judge Lance Africk said they informed him that they hadn't "moved forward" in the last two hours.

David Warren testified Monday that he shot 31-year-old Henry Glover outside a strip mall because he thought he saw a gun in his hand, but prosecutors said Glover wasn't armed.

Warren was convicted of manslaughter in 2010, but an appeals court ordered a new trial. It ruled Warren should have been tried separately from four other officers charged in an alleged cover-up.
