Jury Selection Continues In Shreveport Murder Trial Involving Slain Police Officer
SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) — Jury selection is progressing in the trial of a man charged in the death of a Shreveport police officer.
Christopher Brian Cope is charged with first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of Officer Timothy Prunty in October 2010. If convicted, Cope could be sentenced to death.
Several potential jurors had been selected for the trial as of Thursday. However, defense attorneys and prosecutors had not yet exhausted their rights to strike potential jurors during the selection process.
Attorneys were uncertain how long it would take to complete jury selection.
