SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) — Jury selection is set to begin Monday in the trial of a man arrested in the shooting death of a Shreveport police officer.

Christopher Cope is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Sgt. Tim Prunty in October 2010. Cope is also charged with attempted first-degree murder for firing into a guard shack. The guard on duty was not hurt.

KSLA TV reports Prunty, a 19-year veteran of the force, was standing outside a Circle K convenience store when he was shot several times. Cope was arrested a short time later.
