State Senator Jonathan Perry (District 26) is going back to school. The Kaplan-born Republican will be speaking to civics students at North Vermilion High School Thursday morning from 7:25 a.m. to 10:08 a.m.

The classes are taught by former State Representative Sammy Theriot. Sen. Perry, who graduated from Kaplan High School, says he is honored that former Rep. Theriot invited him into his classroom:

I am really looking forward to teaching and visiting with some of my most important constituents. I hope to be able to instruct them on how bills are introduced and answer their questions about the legislative process. I also hope to be able to talk with them about how important it is to be able to compromise, both in everyday life and in the legislature.

Sen. Perry's visit is scheduled in coordination with the America's Legislators Back to School Program, a national bipartisan civic education effort sponsored by the National Conference of State Legislators.
