You might call it a wild ride, one candidate is in, another is out, and this has been going on for weeks now.  The only sure thing is, by the middle part of this month Lafayette Parish Schools will have a new superintendent.

Just when residents of Lafayette Parish might have thought that the search for a new Lafayette School Superintendent was narrowed, another person dropped out of the competition, and then number four was pick into the top three.

Donald Aguillard was one of the top three candidates chosen to be in the final consideration for the parish's top school job, but just as the list was really being finalized Aguillard had a change of heart.  He said this week that he really thinks he should stay in St. Mary Parish, as their superintendent.  A few weeks back another candidate who dropped out of the selection process asked to get back in after realizing the what the true deadline for the beginning of the job would be.

Before taking a break for the holidays, the Lafayette Parish School Board chose Katherine Landry to become the third finalist for the district's superintendent's job. Lafayette's new superintendent will be announced December 14th.
