71-year-old Dennis C. Cloud of Kinder lost his life today after his pickup truck went off Louisiana Highway 383 just west of Kinder in Allen Parish and flipped several times.

La. State Police Trooper PIO Sgt. James Anderson says Cloud was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the flipping vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

State Police are investigating and are awaiting a routine toxicology sample obtained from Cloud. Troopers are not yet sure why Cloud’s truck went off the road.

“Louisiana law requires vehicle occupants to be properly restrained in all seating positions, day and night,” states Anderson. “Wearing a seat belt is the single most effective thing people can do to minimize the risk of injury in the event of a crash.  Motorists are encouraged to make the smart choice and always wear their seat belt.”
