BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — State officials say one of the largest holiday season enforcement waves ever in Louisiana involving 87 agencies will be conducted over the coming days.

The Louisiana Highway Safety Commission has contracted with the agencies, which will work additional hours dedicated to focusing on drunken drivers and seat belt law violators.

State police and local enforcement agencies will conduct 50 sobriety checkpoints during the enforcement wave.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is funding this program.
