La. Highway Safety Commission Recognizes Lafayette Police For OWI Enforcement

The Lafayette Police Department was recognized for its OWI enforcement at a ceremony in Baton Rouge on Tuesday.

The Louisiana Highway Safety Commission gave LPD an award for total OWI arrest in 2013 - 869 arrests. One LPD officer, Corporal Tommy Aphaiyarath, was recognized for his 216 OWI arrests by an individual officer.

With the assistance from a grant provided by the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission, the Lafayette Police Department continues to lead the state in removing impaired drivers from the roadway.
