LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) — A Lake Charles man has been sentenced to three years in prison for injuring a 5-month-old child.

The American Press reports (http://bit.ly/1ddpOBY) that 32-year-old Mitchell Scott Crador was sentenced Friday by Judge Ron Ware. Crador had pleaded guilty to second-degree cruelty to a juvenile.

Prosecutor Bobby Holmes says the baby suffered two skull fractures and retinal hemorrhaging during the incident on May 29, 2011.

Holmes says whether the act was intentional or negligent while Crador was drinking, both were covered by the law.

The child's grandmother testified that the girl is doing well now. But she said when the baby's mother picked her up from Crador, he didn't tell the mother about the injuries.

Crador's mother, Carlena Lundy, testified her son has taken steps to turn his life around.
