HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) — When Louisianaparole violator Donnie Lee Roberts was arrested for fatally shooting his girlfriend at her East Texas home nine years ago, the first thing he told police who questioned him was that he wanted the death penalty.

That's set to happen Wednesday.

The 41-year-old Roberts is facing lethal injection in Huntsville for the slaying of 44-year-old Vicki Bowen. A co-worker who became concerned after the dental assistant failed to show up for work discovered her body at Bowen's home near Lake Livingston in Polk County. Roberts also confessed to another unsolved homicide in Louisianacommitted 12 years earlier.

Evidence showed Roberts fled a Louisianadrug treatment program. He'd already been convicted of a robbery in Baton Rouge.

The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday refused to review his case.
