Several area business groups are hoping that working together will pay off.

The Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce says the creation of a new Greater Southwest Louisiana Super Region will be announced Friday in Crowley.

Leaders say the goal is to leverage the region's resources so they can compete internationally.

“We seek to connect with one another and encourage greater participation in the region’s future," says Lafayette Chamber President Rob Guidry. "We want to formally acknowledge that the region’s resources, institutions, assets and people are intertwined."

The super region will include all parishes near Lafayette and Calcasieu parishes. They are Acadia, Allen, Beauregard, Cameron, Evangeline, Iberia, St. Landry, St. Martin, St. Mary and Vermilion.
