Lafayette August Retails Sales Are Up

The economy may not be great in other parts of the country, but retail sales figures show that things are still moving in Lafayette.

Retail sales figures for August are at $485 million, so 2013 year-to-date sales show an increase of 4.8 percent over last year.

The Lafayette Economic Development Authority says an August 2012 to August 2013 comparison shows a 14 and 1/2 percent increase from year to year.

2013 hotel/motel totals are outperforming last year's numbers as well.  August 2013 figures totaled $6.6 million which is a 1.57 percent bump from 2012.
