LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — Lafayette fire investigators are trying to determine what sparked a barn fire last week north of the city that left five horses dead.

Alton Trahan, a spokesman for the Lafayette Fire Department, said units from Carencro, Scott and Lafayette answered a 2:14 p.m. Friday call. He says the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office also assisted at the site located between Carencro and Scott.

He says the barn was destroyed by the blaze.

No firefighters were injured.
