Lafayette Board Approves Hiring Security

A security presence will now be seen at Lafayette Parish School Board meetings after action by the board last night.

Members of the board voted in favor last night off allowing the board president to hire security for future meetings.

Board President Hunter Beasley says the executive committee will meet soon to put together a proposal for the board's approval.

Board member George Awbrey spoke last night about several prior meetings when emotions were running high at meetings and members of the audience might have spoken out about an issue.  He says its about maintaining order and to control any crowds at future meetings.
