Lafayette Buddhist Monk Pleads Guilty To Fraud
36 year old Khang Nguyen Le, a Buddhist monk has pleaded guilty to defrauding the Lafayette Vietnamese Temple of $263,000. According to evidence presented at the guilty plea from January 2013 to August 2014 Le withdrew more than $263,000 from the temple's bank accounts to gamble at a Lake Charles casino. Le would drive to Lake Charles and take money from temple bank accounts using ATM's and casino tellers. Le faces 20 years in prison, three years supervised release and a $250,000 fine.
