A family who lost so much was given new hope, in the form of a new house. Lafayette resident Ivette Vasquez suffered tremendous loss after her husband was left paralyzed in an accident that also took the life of their daughter Abigail. Since then, they have been managing to survive in an apartment that was never designed for individuals in wheelchairs.

Our Savior's Church in Lafayette recently gave Ivette Vasquez and her family a new home.

Some of you may recognize Ivette's story because a few years ago KHXT-FM (Hot 107.9) in Lafayette delivered a Thanksgiving basket to Ivette after being nominated for a contest designed to help individuals in need around the Thanksgiving holidays.

Here is Ivette telling her story about the accident and describing the hardships she and her family endured following the accident---the accident that took not just her daughter, but their home.

Now, because of this story and because of her faith, Ivette was nominated for the 2015 Arise Foundation Award. With all that she and her family have been through, there was probably not a more deserving person to receive this reward.

Recently, Ivette was in attendance at Our Savior's Church when she was called up to stage to receive the reward.

While on stage, Ivette was given a gift, a wrapped up mailbox. And, as we all know, a mailbox has its place, in the front of a home. You can tell by her reaction in the video that Ivette knew what was going on as she was quickly overcome with emotion.

Sometimes in life you just need a break, and after all they have have been through, they finally received a break. What a moment.
