The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's office says Lafayette City Marshall Brian Pope turned himself in early Wednesday morning. Booking documents show Pope was booked at 3:43 am at the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. It was noted that the booking process was without incident and in compliance with a court order from Judge Edwards.

Pope was sentenced to seven days in the parish jail on a contempt of court charges, but the release says he is expected to be fitted with a monitoring device and released.

KPEL News requested more information about the sentence that Pope will actually be serving. We are still awaiting a response from the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office.
