Last night just before 8:00 o'clock Lafayette Police were called out to respond to an armed robbery in the 2000 block of Johnston Street.

The victim says the suspect came into the convenience store and walked up to the counter.

That's when the victim says the suspect pulled out a handgun and demanded money from the clerk.

The clerk gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash, and the man fled the store on foot heading down Oakcrest Drive.

The clerk was not injured during the robbery.

The victim described the suspect as a black male wearing a dark jacket and gloves, and he had a a white t-shirt pulled over his face.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the robbery or the identity of the suspect to contact Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
