The Lafayette City Parish Council is scheduled to discuss junked cars and blighted property at this week's council meeting.

The government could soon begin again to start towing away abandoned vehicles by revising an anti-blight ordinance.

The original ordinance was challenged in court in 2007 by a property owner after vehicles were seized from his property.  He settled with the government for $70,000.

Councilman Kenneth Boudreaux, who has been pushing to have the law tweeked, says a revised ordinance for junked cars would set the stage to reignite the anti-blight effort in Lafayette after a six year hiatus.
