If you golf at any of the three courses operated by the Lafayette Consolidated Government, you will now be paying more to play.

The City Parish Council Tuesday night approved an ordinance that will increase some fees this year and in 2015.

Fees will go up on the cost of an annual passes at the courses by $75 a year, while the fees to rent a golf cart will go up by $2.

Green fees will be going up by $4 for next year.

Director of parks and recreation Gerald Boudreaux says they are not currently able to cover expenses at the courses based on the money they are generating now, and the cost of maintenance just keeps going up.

Boudreaux says the rate hikes will bring in about $565,000 over the span of two years.
