Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Deputies have arrested a man after allegations that he stabbed his roommate.

Last night just before 8 o'clock deputies were called out to the 6300 block of West Congress Street after receiving a call about a stabbing.  Captain Kip Judice tells KPEL that 28-year-old Shane Jenkins is alleged to have stabbed another man in the back.   He says this happened outside of their home.

Deputies were told by family members that they were holding the suspect down, and the victim was being taken to the hospital by some neighbors.

Deputies say that when the got to the seen they found 28-year-old Shane Jenkins being restrained by family members, and they took him into custody.  Deputies say that witnesses say Jenkins had stabbed his roommate once in the back for unknown reasons.  The victim is said to in guarded but stable condition.

Jenkins was booked into the parish jail with one count of attempted second degree murder.
