At a quarter before 3 o'clock this morning, Lafayette Police were called out to a business in the 1400 block of Johnston Street about an armed robbery.

Lafayette Police say two employees of the business were leaving and headed towards their vehicles, when a black male suspect went up to the one of the victims and told him to, "give it up."

The suspect took two money bags from the employee along with the victim's cell phone before taking the second victim's cell phone.

The victims say the suspect never showed them a weapon, but he kept his hand inside of his pocket as though he may have a gun.

The victims described the suspect as a black man with the following features:

  • Facial hair
  • Dark complexion
  • About 6' tall
  • 245 pounds
  • Wearing dark blue pants
  • Wearing a dark blue hooded sweat shirt

Once he took the items, the man fled on foot.  No one was injured during the robbery.

Anyone with information is being asked to call the Lafayette Police Department or Lafayette Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
