After 30 years of operation as the Regional Medical Center of Acadiana, the hospital becomes Lafayette General Southwest today.

Daryl Cetnar, spokesperson for Lafayette General Health, reported the final paperwork sealing the acquisition was signed this week.

“We are honored to welcome a second campus of Lafayette General Medical Center (LGMC), and over 500 new employees, to our family of healthcare professionals,” said David L. Callecod, FACHE, President of Lafayette General Health. “This extension of LGMC furthers our commitment to deliver healthcare excellence throughout our entire community.”

The conversion occurred at 12:01 a.m. Friday.

HCA MidAmerica, parent company of Regional Medical Center, will continue to operate Women's and Children's Hospital and Lafayette Surgicare, its remaining facilities in the Hub City.
