Jared Bellard, Lafayette City-Parish Council Chairman visited "Mornings With Ken & Bernie" today and reported that two ordinances were introduced and passed at last night's council meeting to go forward to final adoption.

Bellard said the first ordinance to be introduced would abolish the Red Flex Program and this ordinance passed by a vote of  5-4.  The second ordinance dealt with the Safe Light - Safe Speed contract for electronic enforcement and it passed by a vote of 8-1.  An amendment was offered by City-Parish President Joey Durel to have a four-year agreement with Red Flex with no automatic renewal and the proceeds of the program would be split 60/40 between LCG and Red Flex.

Bellard said,

"if the Red Flex contract is approved, 17 more intersections will have red-light cameras installed at the discretion of Red Flex".
