The Mighty Lions (4-5, 1-5) can see the playoffs in their sites. It's what these seniors have been working hard for and, last year, seemed so far away as they struggled with a 2-8 record.

But, as their roller coaster of a regular season comes to an end tonight, waiting for them at the end is the District 3-5A leader, the Carencro Golden Bears (7-2, 5-1). It's not a guarantee LHS (seeded #37 in the power rankings at this point) would make the postseason with an upset victory over CHS (seeded #8), but it certainly wouldn't hurt.

"We really had a good week at practice…the mood is good," says LHS Coach Jay Domengeaux. "It's been enthusiastic. I think we're going in tonight with a good attitude."

The Mighty Lions are coming off a 42-21 loss to Sam Houston last week. They began the season 3-0 in stellar performances against non-district foes in Kaplan, Opelousas and Alexandria. But a heartbreaking district opening loss to Acadiana and only one district victory against New Iberia have put them in this position.

Carencro, meanwhile, is coming off a thrilling 24-17 victory over Acadiana High. Their only losses have come to St. Thomas More in non-district play and Sulphur in district play. With a win tonight, they could solidify a top ten seed heading into the Class 5A state playoffs.

Kickoff tonight is set for 7 pm. You can listen to the game on both ESPN 1420 and Newstalk 96.5 KPEL. Ian Auzenne (play-by-play) and Brandon Comeaux (color) will have the call.
