Lafayette High School along with the Lafayette Parish School System and Lafayette law enforcement agencies performed a lockdown drill today.

According to Superintendent Cooper, the drill was labeled as a training exercise and a precautionary measure being conducted due to recent behavior patterns that the staff and security officers have become aware of.

When questioned about what behavior the Superintendent was referring to, Corporal Paul Mouton stated, "On Friday a student made threatening comments which was handled by police and the school.  Just as a precaution we conducted a lockdown of the campus today."

The drill started at 6:15 this morning and will continue until every step is complete.

The school board also says that these tests will be going on for the rest of the year across the area.
