Lafayette Home Destroyed In Early Morning Fire

A family's home and vehicle are completely destroyed after a fire tore through the residence on Julian Circle.

Fire Department spokesperson Alton Trahan reported firefighters responded to the scene at approximately 4:30 a.m. Saturday after a neighbor reported the fire.

The couple Deacon and Tassala Jones were not home when the fire began. A neighbor informed them of the fire as they were on their way home, Trahan said.

Investigators determined the fire began in the home's carport, where one of the couple's vehicles was parked, but the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
