LAFAYETTE, La. (KPEL) -- Police are investigating the knife-point robbery of a Lafayette hotel.

Cpl. Paul Mouton, a Lafayette Police Department spokesperson, says black male walked into the lobby of the La Quinta Inn Tuesday night. After pulling out a knife, Mouton says "the suspect demanded the clerk empty the register."

Mouton says the suspect fled the hotel across the Evangeline Thruway with an undisclosed amount of cash. The clerk was not injured.

The suspect is described as a six-foot-tall black male with medium build. If you have any information, you're urged to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
